Overview
This project aims to provide information, data, and recommendations to establish the basis for a set of public policies and the formulation of investment projects that allow the development of telecommunications infrastructure in peri-urban, rural, and hard-to-reach areas in Colombia.
The leading financial institution of the project is CAF, and the project is co-financed with EIB.
EU funding will support five main activities:
- Workshops in 10 departments of the country with local actors to advance with potential proposals for projects to be implemented.
- Structure projects' feasibility.
- Implement pilots to test specific technologies and business cases
- Evaluate funding options for the projects
- Transfer knowledge in relation to digital skills
The expected impacts for Colombia are:
- Smart (digital), sustainable and inclusive economic and social development and growth
- Increased green and inclusive employment
- An upgraded policy and regulatory framework that supports increased investments in digital sector and facilitates investment projects by public and private stakeholders
- Increased digital entrepreneurship
- Improved broadband (incl. international) connectivity, in line with EU digital connectivity toolbox principles
