Paz Total Connectivity in Colombia

Overview

This project aims to provide information, data, and recommendations to establish the basis for a set of public policies and the formulation of investment projects that allow the development of telecommunications infrastructure in peri-urban, rural, and hard-to-reach areas in Colombia.

The leading financial institution of the project is CAF, and the project is co-financed with EIB.

EU funding will support five main activities: 

  • Workshops in 10 departments of the country with local actors to advance with potential proposals for projects to be implemented.
  • Structure projects' feasibility.
  • Implement pilots to test specific technologies and business cases
  • Evaluate funding options for the projects
  • Transfer knowledge in relation to digital skills

The expected impacts for Colombia are: 

  • Smart (digital), sustainable and inclusive economic and social development and growth
  • Increased green and inclusive employment
  • An upgraded policy and regulatory framework that supports increased investments in digital sector and facilitates investment projects by public and private stakeholders
  • Increased digital entrepreneurship
  • Improved broadband (incl. international) connectivity, in line with EU digital connectivity toolbox principles
